my many mouths
African Digital Art
Virtual meets visceral in this immersive and intimate 360˚ video experience: The result of an interdisciplinary process and audio-visual experiment with physical performance, virtual reality, installation, theatrical costume, and sound. Thematic explorations include the imagining of alternative worlds, the poetics of mining, transformation, hybridity, complex femininity, and self-actualization in wildly imaginative terms.
The project entails a private view of a cosmic being playing. She dives, winds, twists, and turns in space, inviting the voyeur for a deeper look.

The first draft of my many mouth was exhibited - and the collective first assembled - as part of 'Virtual Black Out: Experiments in the Future of Form' supported by POP Art Theatre and Fak'ugesi Festival for the Virtual National Arts Festival 2020 (vNAF). Based on this early version of the work , mmm collective was awarded a grant from the Vrystaat National Arts Festival towards further development of the work.
This is is a PATAP Project: The Pan-African Telematic Art Project (PATAP) is a new initiative of the Vrystaat Arts Festival through the Pan-African Creative Exchange (PACE), in partnership with the Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, Ars Electronica, and the University of the Free State’s Program for Innovation in Artform Development (PIAD).
