Volana is a contemporary painter and digital artist based in Madagascar. She enjoys creating abstract art on different types of media. 2020’s Covid pandemic has given Volana the opportunity to dedicate herself to one of her biggest passions, one that she had to put behind for several years - Art. She decided to take time to develop computer technology and image processing skills to spontaneously create abstract collages of public figures with extravagant colours and expressive marks.
Her latest series, “Izaho, ♀” is inspired by women from her beautiful island, Madagascar. She tries to put forward the forgotten values of the Malagasy female gender in her society through portraits and digitalized collages of Malagasy women from different parts of the country.
