I am a documentary photographer and photojournalist based in Cape Town, South Africa. I contribute to Everyday Africa and am a member of Diversify Photo, and the African Photojournalism Database. When I was 16, on a trip to visit my late father who was working in Turkey, I fell in love with photography. I ended up studying computer science at university and worked as a web developer for years before making the jump into photography. Growing up in both working class and middle class homes as a “coloured” South African has left me with a unique relationship to Cape Town, giving me a nuanced understanding of the social issues facing communities I photograph while being able to celebrate their resilience. In addition to photojournalism and documentary photography I have participated in two art residencies: Virtual Winds by the Africa Nosy Art Institute, curated by Megan Judge as "breezy": instagram.com/virtual_winds, Is'art Gallery's Festival d'Art Urbain 2020 in Madagascar where I produced this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHhRz7xONRw
