Ani-Marathon

Wild about animation? This 28 hour Animation Marathon is for professionals and students. The Ani-marathon will be a 28 hour challenge for teams from across the city. An extended event in the Fak’ugesi Making Weekend.

The Ani-Marathon challenge will be to animate, in any style, medium (2D, stop motion, etc) and duration of your choice, any part of a track being developed at Fak’ugesi Beats Lab between musician Zaki Ibrahim (SA / Canada) and beat maker Evil Needle (France). An abstract over a realistic approach is advised because of the time limit. Only final renders will be judged.

Teams will be awarded prizes and have the opportunity to network and explore new practices. Prize winning and final animations will be featured at Zaki Ibrahim’s performance at the Fak’ugesi Beats Bloc Party on the 16th of Sept.

Book you teams via Quicket: minimum 3 and maximum 6 animators per team.  Maximum 12 teams for this event.

Teams are required to bring their own hardware and software.  Snacks and drinks over the day will be provided.

Partners: Animation School South Africa & Wits Digital Arts.

Audience: Animators of all shapes and expertise.

Team Bookings: Booking information will be confirmed later in August. Contact Fak’ugesi Festival via the contact sheet for more information.
